Sa Pinas langLoosing Everything
When our Pastor stood in front of the church members reading the text from Matthew 20 about the worker in God’s vineyard, I was busy browsing through the cross references in my little Bible. As he was speaking about the kinds of workers, I believe God impresses something else to me for I was brought to another book and another verse.
Here is the verse that has made me realise that I should be obedient to God and fear not loosing what he is asking me to let go. “…no one has left a home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age… and in the age to come eternal life.” Mark 10:29&30
Indeed God gives back to us whatever we offer to him in obedience to his Word. He promised that we will receive it in this present age, that is NOW. Anything that we are holding on to, that robs us from doing what God requires us and hinders us from fellowshipping and enjoying the father and child relationship with our God, when we give this up for Him, God will bless us a hundred times NOW.
Aside from all these things that Jesus promised to bestow on us now, Jesus himself declared that in the age to come or in the future, we will enjoy His greatest gift… eternal life.
Isn’t God wonderful? Isn’t Jesus full of grace and truth? Will you believe His words? Are you willing to surrender your all to Him?
I Don’t Need To Give Anything To My Family
“If anyone does not provide for jis relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” – 1 Timothy 5:8
When I was still studying, my father would often say, “Just finish your studies and then you can marry”. It’s his way of saying, I don’t have to repay them.
Indeed, parents will send their children to college. They will do everything to provide education without expecting anything in return. However, It is up to us, if we will let them taste the fruits of their labor.
Although our parents will not oblige us to give a portion of our wages, when we know that they are having financial difficulties, we should provide for them.
As Christians, we do not want to be like the unbeliever neither will we want to be worse than them by not providing for our families.
In light of this, I pray that the Lord our God, who has called us to serve His purpose, bless us financially that we may provide not only for our immediate family but also for our relatives. May He bless the works of our hands and prosper us so that we will experience the kind of life He promised us… Life in its abundance. May He be glorified in our prosperity and His name be lifted up! This is my hearts prayer to the Lord Almighty through His Son, my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
